Organic Vegetable Packer for Bespoke Orders


We are currently looking for a person who likes being briskly efficient and organised, to prepare and pack a wide range of fresh produce sold through our online vegetable delivery service and local farmers’ markets.  This is a great opportunity to have a physically active job and be involved in a local and ethical business.

Pack House Assistant


Provisional Job Description


Preparing and packing produce including roots, greens, salads and fruit, for bespoke vegetable orders (primary role).


Liaising with field staff regarding quantities and quality of farm produce and office staff regarding quantities and quality of bought in produce (specifically fruit and exotics).


Assisting with the preparation and packing of crops for Farmers’ Markets


Manual handling and lifting of crates and sacks of produce


Keeping the pack house area clean and tidy


Working upon own initiative and as part of a team


Undertaking other farm duties as required (this may involve outdoor field or polytunnel work) especially at peak times or to cover for other staff holidays




These roles require


Excellent self organisation and an ability to identify priority tasks


An excellent eye for quality control and the ability to present produce attractively.  Bespoke orders are our premium range and overseeing the quality to ensure it complies with the exceptional standards required by discerning customers is critical to retaining customer loyalty.


Work methodically to read and check order quantities are correctly packed


Ability to work to tight schedules to ensure freshly harvested crops are ready for scheduled deliveries to reach the customer in excellent condition


A robust attitude to working within a farming environment


An understanding of basic food hygiene


A flexible attitude to work. 


Previous experience of fresh produce is desirable, but not essential for a quick learner.  There can be a period of training with our current staff in this role. 



We are happy to discuss what hours might suit someone (eg may suit a parent wanting part-time work during school hours), but we do need someone who is available to work on Wednesdays and Thursdays for 5-6 hours as a minimum. Full days may be required but can extend into either Tuesday or Friday if shorter days preferred, or indeed additional duties can be found for an applicant who wants longer hours. Please state your preferred working hours on your application.




Negotiable depending upon fresh produce experience and qualifications, and ability to work to a high standard with efficiency.
